Moreton Bay College (MBC) and Moreton Bay Boys' College (MBBC) are two separate Early Years to Year 12 single sex Uniting Church day schools. The Senior Systems Administrator will provide excellent customer service and will play a critical role in supporting our staff, students and community. The Senior Systems Administrator will play a critical role in the ongoing success and development of the Colleges' technology systems and practices. This role will lead in effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. The Senior Systems Administrator will work within the ICT support group to provide expert assistance and guidance to support in BAU operations and ICT Projects as determined by the ICT Strategic Direction of the school. The Senior Systems Administrator is expected to provide expert guidance in the evaluation of legacy systems and the design and best fit for purpose requirements of the College's future needs whilst meeting best practice and ITIL standards. Please note that this Position Description: Can alter with changes in the role and responsibilities of this position Will be used as a framework for appraisal KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Manage and oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of all ICT infrastructure and services, including servers, storage, data communications, cabling, internet, and telephony. Proactively monitor the capacity and security of the Colleges' wired and wireless network environments and associated security systems. Prepare, maintain, and update systems documentation, project documentation, client information and operational policies and procedures related to the Colleges’ IT infrastructure. With the assistance of IT Support staff, manage the development, implementation and maintenance of curriculum, business and administration software. Support the provision of high quality and responsive client service that meets agreed service levels, and the business needs of the Colleges. Participate as a collaborative member of the team to ensure that high-quality client-focused services are provided. This includes supporting induction and skill development of new staff to the team. Maintain knowledge, and participate in the evaluation and testing of current, new and evolving strategies and technologies in relation to College needs through appropriate peer networks and relevant training. Assist the Director of Information Technology with conducting IT professional development within the College. Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Information Technology. Above all else, maintain a curious and open attitude towards learning and improvements. Actively contribute to a safety citizenship culture upholding health and safety policies, procedures, hazard reporting and safe work practices. SKILLS AND ABILITIES You often wonder, is there a better way? (Focus on process improvement). Commitment to providing a high level of client service. Knowledge of networking hardware and software with extensive experience in designing, installing, maintaining, and managing complex wired and wireless network environments. Knowledge of server hardware and software with experience in design, installation, management and maintenance of complex server and storage environments, particularly Microsoft Windows server, SAN storage, Nutanix, VMWare and Microsoft Active Directory. Ability to undertake advanced troubleshooting to identify, diagnose and resolve problems in an IT systems environment. Ability to work effectively as a team member or independently with minimal supervision. Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate at all levels of an organisation in technical and non-technical terms, supporting a wide variety of client information needs. Ability to relate to our customers (staff, students, and parents). Commitment to their work and the achievement of excellence. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE 3 years related experience or a demonstrated passion to progress into a Senior Systems Administration role. Demonstrate a proactive approach to learning. Experience working with Windows Server (including Active Directory, File Services and IIS Services) and Linux (Ubuntu). Experience within a complex networking environment (large wireless deployments, multiple subnets and network routing). Experience with Microsoft 365 environments (including Exchange Hybrid Setups, Teams and SDS, Intune, and SharePoint Online, Azure). Experience with scripting/programming languages is highly regarded. Experience with Backup software and ideologies (knowledge of Arcserv highly regarded). Experience with TASS or the management of database systems is highly regarded. Developing ICT practices, procedures and documentation Working within a team and the ability to assist across all areas when necessary. WORK ENVIRONMENT, CONDITIONS AND SALARY A full-time, permanent position. The Senior Systems Administrator reports to the Director of Information Technology. Salary $118,000 per annum. You will be required to work across both Moreton Bay College and Moreton Bay Boys’ College. You will have an individual computer in a shared workspace. The role necessitates a physically capable capacity. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Close vision is a requirement of the position.
