NES Fircroft are partnered with a leading mining owner/operator in their search for an Engineering Lead to join the Capital Projects Team on an initial 12 month contract.The purpose of this role is to support large capital projects as an engineering specialist (electrical) through design, execution commissioning and handover for large projects over $10m to major projects over $100M within the client's Capital Program.The role is project based and leads the delivery of fit for purpose solutions and quality engineering outcomes for the allocated projects. In addition, the role provides engineering support for the construction, commissioning and the asset owner teams as required.The Senior Engineer role will also provide support to the Engineering Lead on larger projects when required. The Key Requirements Of The Role Will Include Define and/or challenge the project and engineering scope to ensure they are fit for purpose; Preparation of scope documents for execution of engineering or other services Lead or support the management of engineering deliverables, primarily through 3rd parties Assist in maximising value from the Engineering Service Providers (ESPs) by proactive monitoring of performance and reducing variations Assist in the preparation of operational readiness deliverables; Ensure engineering design quality – experience and standards; Ensure compliance with specifications with no excess scope items or engineering design deliverables; Prepare responses to contractor technical queries within contractual time targets Maximise the re-usability of engineering design; Assist and validate in the construction, commissioning and handover phase of the project. Core Activities Engineering and Design Design management Contributes to the management of the design process by assisting with: Operational Readiness Support Safety and Environment Technology & Standards Procurement & Contracting Construction, Commissioning and handover Experience And Qualifications Bachelor of Engineering Degree Electrical 7 years experience in an engineering field 5 years experience with design, maintenance or operational support of mechanical and /or materials handling equipment including Refinery and process equipment Tailings dams Engineering delivery in project environments favourably considered. Experience in mineral processing or similar heavy industry.
