About the opportunity This is a rare senior leadership opportunity for an experienced finance manager to lead the financial accounting services function for the NSW State Emergency Services. As the Senior Manager, Financial Accounting you will play a critical role in supporting the NSW SES by means of optimising financial services and processes across agency and informing strategic decision-making through precise statutory reporting. This role will also entail the management of all financial accounting audit activities and ensuring the NSW SES’ finance function is managed in accordance with legislative requirements and industry standards. Experience in management accounting and government accounting is desirable. The NSW SES serves the NSW community as the lead agency for floods, storms, and tsunamis as specified by the State Emergency Service Act 1989. About you To be successful in this role, you will have: • Advanced knowledge of financial accountancy functions, with a tertiary qualification in finance, accounting or a relevant discipline with professional membership with CPA or CA Australia. • Excellent leadership and management skills with the ability to manage a team to meet the financial objectives of a geographically diverse organisation. • Proven record of achievement in developing / implementing system and process reform in the areas of accounting and finance. • Adept communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders of diverse backgrounds and varying degrees of knowledge with respect to accountancy principles. • Experience in management accounting and government accounting functions • Thorough knowledge of AIIMS principles and processes, and/or willingness to obtain competence within 12 months.
