Business Development Manager - Apprenticeships & Construction Workforce | QLD — Queensland, Australia

Business Development Manager – Apprenticeships & Construction Workforce | Queensland Connect Resources is expanding its Group Training Organisation into Queensland, and we are looking for a commercially strong Business Development Manager to lead that growth. This is not a maintenance sales role. It is a genuine market-building opportunity for someone with strong construction industry relationships who can open doors, build trust with employers and help businesses solve one of their biggest challenges: finding, employing and retaining quality apprentices and trainees. Connect Resources has grown from an established labour hire provider into a national workforce business offering recruitment, group training and training services. Since becoming a registered GTO in 2024, we have grown quickly by partnering with employers who need a simpler, lower-risk way to bring apprentices into their business. With major construction, infrastructure, energy and housing demand across Queensland, we see a significant opportunity to build a strong apprentice and trainee pipeline for the state. The Opportunity You will be responsible for growing our Queensland GTO footprint by identifying and securing host employers across construction, civil, infrastructure, trades, facilities maintenance and related sectors. You will be supported by an experienced GTO team that manages recruitment, employment, payroll, mentoring, compliance, apprentice support and training coordination, allowing you to focus on building relationships and winning quality business. This role would suit someone who already understands the construction workforce market and has the confidence to engage owners, general managers, project managers, operations managers and senior decision makers. What you will be doing Building a pipeline of Queensland host employers for apprentices and trainees Developing relationships with builders, subcontractors, civil contractors, facilities providers and trade businesses Selling a practical workforce solution, not just a recruitment service Working closely with our recruitment and operations team to ensure client requirements are delivered properly Identifying growth opportunities across priority trades including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC and civil construction Representing Connect Resources in the Queensland market and helping shape our state growth strategy Providing market feedback so we can build the right apprentice pathways, client offering and future team structure What we are looking for Proven business development experience in construction, civil, trades, labour hire, recruitment, apprenticeships, training or a related workforce sector Existing relationships across the Queensland construction or trade market Strong commercial instincts and the ability to turn conversations into signed host employer agreements A practical understanding of labour challenges facing employers Confidence to build a new GTO market in Queensland, while being supported by an established local Connect Resources office and experienced interstate GTO leadership High standards, strong follow-up and the ability to build long-term client trust A genuine interest in apprenticeships, training and building the future workforce Why this role is different You will have the opportunity to become the face of our Queensland GTO expansion, backed by an existing local Connect Resources presence rather than starting from a blank slate. This is a high-autonomy role with strong earning potential, backed by a business that already understands recruitment, group training, apprentice management and construction workforce delivery. Package Strong base salary, car allowance and uncapped commission structure, with realistic OTE of $180k–$220k for a high performer. To apply Please apply with your resume and a short note outlining your experience in business development and the Queensland construction or workforce market.
