About the Company Our client is a well-established Building Services contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex mechanical projects across Sydney. Unlike many contractor-side design teams, they bring their engineers into projects from the early design stages, giving them genuine involvement from concept through to construction. With a strong pipeline of work across commercial, healthcare, education, industrial and refurbishment projects, they're continuing to grow their design capability and are looking to add another Mechanical Design Engineer to the team. If you're someone who enjoys technical design but would also like to see your projects through delivery, this is a great opportunity to broaden your experience. About the Role This isn't your typical contractor design role. Rather than spending your time checking consultant drawings or carrying out coordination only, you'll be involved throughout the design process, working alongside both the design and delivery teams to develop practical engineering solutions from the outset. You'll be involved in: Mechanical HVAC design from concept through to construction Heating and cooling load calculations Equipment selection and system design Developing schematics and technical documentation Working closely with Project Managers, Site Teams and clients Site visits, technical support and design reviews throughout delivery Value engineering and buildable design solutions Coordination with consultants, subcontractors and the wider project team You'll gain exposure to the full project lifecycle while still remaining heavily involved in the technical design. Skills & Experience We're open to speaking with engineers from either a consultancy or contractor background who are looking to broaden their experience. Ideally you'll have: Around 3-6 years' experience within Mechanical Building Services Experience designing HVAC systems Knowledge of Australian Building Services standards Experience carrying out calculations, equipment selection and technical design Good communication skills and confidence working with clients and project teams Revit experience would be beneficial but isn't essential A proactive attitude and willingness to learn Experience at Tier 1 contractors is appreciated This could suit an experienced Intermediate Engineer or someone approaching Senior level.
