ConsultANZ is looking for Geotechnical Engineer for a leading civil infrastructure contractor delivering major reinforced concrete and infrastructure projects across New Zealand. Join a growing Civil Technical Team and provide geotechnical expertise, temporary works design, and alternative engineering solutions across projects including bridges, wharves, water treatment plants, storage tanks, pipelines, and major transport infrastructure. Responsibilities: Deliver geotechnical design and technical advice for temporary and permanent works. Design and review working platforms, crane pads, excavation support systems, sheet piling, soil nails, king posts, and secant pile solutions. Assess ground-related construction risks, including slope stability, settlement, groundwater, and dewatering. Review tenders and develop practical alternative designs that improve constructability, reduce costs, and minimise project risk. Undertake engineering analysis using GeoStudio Suite (Slope/W), WALLAP, GRLWEAP, or similar software. Contribute to design reviews with a practical, contractor-focused approach. Work closely with project delivery teams and spend time on site to develop buildable engineering solutions. Mentor junior engineers and support the growth of geotechnical capability within the Civil Technical Team. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent). 8 years' experience in geotechnical engineering within civil infrastructure or major construction projects. CPEng (or equivalent), or actively working towards chartership. Experience in temporary works design and/or working for a Tier 1 civil contractor. Strong understanding of construction methodologies, staging, and site constraints. Proficiency with GeoStudio Suite (Slope/W), WALLAP, GRLWEAP, or similar engineering software. Experience in complex ground conditions and developing practical alternative design solutions. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and site-based teams. Benefits: Salary: $130K-$150K base company vehicle (depending on experience).
