The Client Amm & Co Engineering Pty Ltd is a Brisbane-based engineering and fabrication company with over 20 years' experience in the industry. The Role They are seeking a full time Engineering Technologist to join their team Dandenong, VIC. This is for a full time position at an annual salary between $80,000 to $85,000 depending on experience plus superannuation. The Responsibilities Analyse client project requirements and translate engineering, fabrication, automation and production needs into practical technical solutions. Develop and review 3D design models, technical drawings, fabrication layouts and component specifications for custom machinery and engineered products. Support the design, development and implementation of automation systems, industrial robotics and robotic welding solutions for manufacturing and fabrication applications. Assess existing production processes and recommend engineering improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, safety and output quality. Prepare technical documentation, work instructions, design notes, material specifications and fabrication requirements for workshop and project execution. Coordinate with fabricators, welders, draftspersons, machine operators and project teams to ensure engineered designs are accurately manufactured and assembled. Conduct technical assessments of laser cutting, welding, fabrication and robotic processes to ensure correct tolerances, production quality and design compliance. Assist in the configuration, testing and troubleshooting of automated machinery, robotic welding systems and industrial equipment. Evaluate materials, fabrication methods, welding procedures and manufacturing techniques to determine suitable solutions for each project. Monitor project progress from design through fabrication, installation and commissioning to ensure technical standards, timelines and client requirements are achieved. Identify design issues, production constraints, equipment faults and fabrication risks, and implement practical engineering solutions. Support quality control by inspecting fabricated components, checking dimensions, reviewing weld quality and confirming compliance with drawings and specifications. Liaise with clients, suppliers and internal teams on technical requirements, project changes, design feasibility, material availability and delivery expectations. Apply workplace health and safety, machine safety, fabrication safety and engineering compliance requirements across design, workshop and installation activities. The requirements Bachelor's degree or Advanced Diploma in Engineering Technology, Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field. At least 2 years of experience as an Engineering Technologist in fabrication engineering, manufacturing engineering, automation, industrial robotics or a closely related technical engineering role. Minimum 2 years' experience supporting automation systems, robotic welding, industrial robotics, custom machinery, manufacturing process improvement or equipment integration projects. Minimum 2 years' experience assessing fabrication methods, welding processes, laser cutting requirements, material selection, tolerances and manufacturability for engineered components. Minimum 2 years' experience troubleshooting technical issues across fabricated assemblies, automated equipment, robotic systems, production machinery or workshop-based engineering processes. At least 2 years of experience interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation and using diagnostic tools Strong knowledge of automotive electronics, low voltage systems, and wiring assemblies Proficient in multimeters, oscilloscopes, and electronic diagnostic equipment Ability to perform root cause analysis, system validation, and compliance checks Familiar with quality standards, safety requirements, and manufacturing processes Strong technical documentation and communication skills Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
