Your Company This second-generation family builder has operated successfully for more than 20 years and delivers approximately $10 million of construction work annually. The business has established an excellent reputation across the Queensland Government and education sectors, with approximately 85% of its projects delivered within government environments. Its workload includes refurbishments, upgrades and capital works projects, ranging from smaller reactive works through to individual projects valued at approximately $3.5 million. The company's reputation has been built on honesty, practical problem-solving and a genuinely collaborative approach. They maintain long-standing relationships with clients, consultants and a trusted network of subcontractors who are treated fairly and paid promptly. With a senior leader progressively stepping away from the day-to-day operations, the business is now seeking an experienced Construction Manager or Project Manager to play an important role in its next stage of development. Your Job This is a broad, hands-on position covering the full project lifecycle, from estimating and tendering through to construction delivery and completion. Working approximately 50% from the office and 50% across project sites, you will manage either several smaller projects or one to two larger projects concurrently. Your responsibilities will include: Preparing estimates and tenders using Cubit Reviewing drawings, specifications and project documentation Obtaining and assessing subcontractor and supplier pricing Breaking down carpentry works into materials, quantities and labour requirements Developing and maintaining programs using Microsoft Project Managing projects from award through to practical completion Coordinating internal trades, subcontractors, architects and client representatives Monitoring project costs, quality, programme and safety Managing QBuild and other government project correspondence Identifying construction issues and making practical decisions quickly Supporting the site team with materials, information and day-to-day problem-solving Maintaining the company's collaborative relationships with clients and subcontractors This is not a position for someone who wants to manage entirely from behind a desk. Refurbishment and government work regularly involve existing-site constraints, incomplete information and materials that need to be matched or adapted. You will be expected to visit sites, understand the issue and find a practical solution that keeps the project moving. Your Experience A carpentry trade background would be highly regarded, although candidates with strong practical construction knowledge and proven problem-solving ability will also be considered. To be successful, you will ideally offer: Experience delivering light commercial, education, government or refurbishment projects Previous experience as a Project Manager, Project Supervisor, Construction Manager or experienced Estimator/Project Manager The ability to estimate, tender and deliver your own projects Strong knowledge of construction methodology and sequencing Practical decision-making skills and the confidence to resolve site issues Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and direct labour The capacity to oversee multiple smaller projects or larger works up to $3.5 million Strong communication and client relationship skills A collaborative and commercially sensible approach A high level of ownership and accountability Candidates coming exclusively from domestic renovations may not have the commercial or government project experience required. Equally, this position requires someone with genuine construction knowledge rather than project management qualifications alone. Your Opportunity This is an opportunity to take on a senior and influential position within a stable, respected family business. You will join a company with an established pipeline, a capable direct-skilled tradesman labour team and strong relationships across the government and education sectors. You will also have the opportunity to help shape its continued growth into larger capital works projects. The remuneration package will be tailored to experience and is expected to include a fully maintained company vehicle. If you are an experienced construction professional who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems and delivering projects without unnecessary internal politics, please apply now through the advert or email Christian Moy on [email protected] .
