Due to continued business growth, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Software Engineer to join our Canberra team. About the Role As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing and maintaining innovative software applications and enterprise solutions that support internal business operations and client technology environments. You will work closely with cybersecurity specialists, cloud engineers, project managers and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable and high-quality software solutions aligned with business objectives and industry best practices. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, implement and maintain software applications based on business and technical requirements. Analyse user requirements and prepare functional and technical specifications. Develop secure, scalable and maintainable software using modern programming languages and frameworks. Perform software testing, debugging, troubleshooting and performance optimisation. Collaborate with project managers, business analysts and infrastructure teams throughout the software development lifecycle. Develop and integrate APIs, databases and cloud-based applications. Participate in code reviews and maintain software engineering standards and best practices. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, user guides and system design documentation. Support software deployment, upgrades, maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives. Work within Agile development environments and contribute to sprint planning and software delivery. Ensure software solutions comply with cybersecurity policies, quality assurance standards and organisational requirements. Research emerging technologies and recommend innovative software solutions to improve operational efficiency. Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline. Minimum two years of relevant professional experience as a Software Engineer, Software Developer or Analyst Programmer. Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming and software engineering principles. Experience with programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, JavaScript or similar technologies. Experience with SQL databases, RESTful APIs and cloud-based application development. Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, cloud platforms and enterprise software development is highly desirable. Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies and DevOps practices. Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
