About the role As a DevOps Engineer, you will support and contribute to DroneShield’s CI/CD automation, delivery pipelines, and developer experience for the C2 software platform. C2 DevOps Engineers are responsible for the automation that generates and makes available all necessary release artifacts for the C2 application software including binary packages, data bundles, and documentation. These artifacts and the processes for generating them are important to many stakeholders, particularly our customers via the TechOps team which carries out deployments to live systems. As part of our shared release agility and quality goals, C2 DevOps Engineers also help ensure dev/test capabilities are useful to Software and QA teams, Eg. hardware-in-the-loop test rigs. C2 DevOps Engineers have an exciting opportunity to make sizeable impacts to the agility and quality of the C2 product by improving productivity of developers, testers, and TechOps through automation and workflow improvements that may integrate with other systems such as Jira, test management, deployment, security scanning, and ERP tools. This role reports to the Director of AI Systems and Platforms. Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations Contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of internal infrastructure and automated tooling, including CI/CD systems, observability tooling, and automated build pipelines for software artefacts Support and improve continuous integration across both inner-loop and outer-loop development workflows Assist in building and maintaining continuous deployment pipelines for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing Help operate, monitor, and improve Hardware-in-the-Loop test infrastructure on specialised hardware, including runner management and incremental feature improvements Integrate tools into automated workflows to improve developer feedback on code quality, security, testing, and documentation Work with HTTP REST APIs to integrate CI/CD and release automation with other internal systems and tools Support the ongoing operation and improvement of the C2 automation and delivery lifecycle under the guidance of more senior engineers Qualifications, Experience and Skills Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience Around 3 years’ experience working with CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD or other modern pipeline tools Solid working knowledge of Linux systems supporting application platforms Experience deploying or operating observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, or OpenTelemetry Experience with scripting and automation using Python and Bash Ability to contribute to technical projects and deliver work with guidance from more senior engineers Clear and effective communication skills when working with engineering and non-engineering stakeholders Willingness to learn from and collaborate with other engineers, including participating in code reviews and shared ownership of systems Exposure to backend programming languages such as Go, Rust, or C++, is desirable Familiarity with containerisation tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OCI-compliant runtimes, is desirable Experience integrating systems using HTTP REST APIs, is desirable Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or equivalents, is desirable Note for recruitment agencies: We do not accept unsolicited candidates from external recruiters unless specifically instructed.
