Location: Australia (Canberra preferred / Hybrid across Australia) Employment Type: Contract Security Requirement (Mandatory) Active NV1 Security Clearance is mandatory Role Summary Infrastructure Engineers are responsible for implementing, managing, and supporting infrastructure environments (physical, virtual, network, and cloud) that enable critical digital services. This role focuses on Linux/UNIX system administration, ensuring high availability, security, and performance of mission-critical systems. Key Duties & Responsibilities Manage, administer, and maintain midrange UNIX/Linux infrastructure Ensure continuous availability (24/7) of critical systems and services Provide business-as-usual (BAU) infrastructure support Perform incident response, troubleshooting, and problem management Analyse and resolve complex technical issues across infrastructure layers Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams and stakeholders Mentor and support junior infrastructure engineers Ensure compliance with Essential Eight (E8) and security best practices Participate in on-call rotations and after-hours support when required Technical Skills & Experience Strong experience in Linux/UNIX system administration Experience managing infrastructure environments (on-premise and cloud) Knowledge of security, monitoring, and compliance frameworks Proven ability in troubleshooting and root cause analysis Experience in incident and problem management processes Familiarity with ITIL or service management frameworks Desirable Skills Experience working in Australian Government or secure environments Understanding of Essential Eight (E8) security framework Exposure to automation, scripting, or DevOps tools Experience in team collaboration and mentoring.
