W Brisbane is seeking a motivated Assistant Chief Engineer to support the day-to-day engineering operations, ensure asset reliability and compliance, and help drive preventative maintenance and sustainability initiatives across the hotel. CURATING ORIGINALITY TAKES TALENT As Assistant Chief Engineer, you will support the Chief Engineer in the day-to-day operation of the hotel’s engineering and maintenance functions, ensuring all building systems, guest facilities, and back-of-house areas operate safely, efficiently, and to brand standards. You will be a hands-on technical leader, a trusted operational partner to hotel leadership, and a key contributor to asset protection, sustainability initiatives, and exceptional guest experiences. Responsibilities include: Support the management of daily property operations, including supervision and distribution of engineering repair work orders Assist in planning, scheduling, and evaluating preventative maintenance programs across all building systems Oversee the physical plant, including HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, water treatment, generators, fire pumps, and life safety systems Inspect hotel facilities to maintain brand and safety standards, ensuring timely completion and quality of maintenance works Supervise Engineering operations and related areas in the absence of the Director of Engineering Maintain accurate maintenance logs, records, and compliance documentation Lead, train, and support engineering team members, including safety procedures, onboarding, performance feedback, and staffing levels Promote exceptional guest service by setting a positive example, empowering employees, and providing 24/7 emergency response support ABOUT YOU You are a qualified and experienced engineering professional with a strong background in hotel or commercial property operations High school diploma or GED; 4 years’ experience in the engineering and maintenance or related professional area; technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing. OR 2-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or related major; 2 years experience in the engineering and maintenance or related professional area; technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing.
