This is a Principal Identity Engineer role with Reserve Bank of Australia based in Sydney, NSW, AU Reserve Bank of Australia Role Seniority - senior More about the Principal Identity Engineer role at Reserve Bank of Australia The principal Identity Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing and governing enterprise identity and Access Management (IAM) capabilities. This role shapes the organisation’s IAM strategy, drives adoption of Zero Trust principles and ensures compliance with regulatory and security requirements. It combines deep technical expertise with the ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and deliver secure, scalable, and resilient identity services. Key Responsibilities: Serve as the IAM solution lead on complex programs, owning architecture from initial discovery through to execution as well as post-deployment support. Lead strategic IAM architecture assessments and roadmap engagements, with a focus on adopting a modern Identity-centric security and Zero Trust enablement. Design, implement and operate IAM architectures across multiple domains including IGA, PAM, Active Directory and Entra ID and CIAM. Champion MFA, passwordless, least privilege and Just in time access to strengthen enterprise security and posture. Collaborate with IT Security and business stakeholders to translate identity requirements into scalable, compliant solutions. Design security solutions aligned with business objectives and support compliance requirements to standards and frameworks such as ACSC ISM, ISO 2700 and Essential Eight. Oversee delivery assurance, quality, and architectural governance across all domains. Lead development of the IAM reference architectures, patterns, and implementation guides. Key qualifications 10 years of experience in Identity and Access management with a strong focus on IAM solution design and implementation. 5 years of experience architecting, planning and delivery of enterprise IAM solutions preferably in financial or government entities. Expertise with identity technologies such as Microsoft Entra, Saviynt, Okta (Auth0), One Identity (Safeguard), CyberArk, etc. Deep knowledge of modern identity protocols (OAuth2, OIDC, SAML), authentication flows, directory services, and access governance Strong consulting background, with proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and leading technical teams and engineers. Experience in leading multi-disciplinary delivery teams and managing architecture across complex programs. Preferred Certifications Microsoft SC-300 (Identity & Access Administrator) Vendor-specific certifications from Saviynt, OneIdentity, Okta, SailPoint, or CyberArk Why RBA?
