About the role On behalf of our client, we are currently seeking a dedicated, self-driven and highly organized Carpenter to be part of their growing team. The Carpenter is a key trade position responsible for the high-quality construction, installation, and repair of structures and fixtures across our projects. This role requires a skilled and experienced tradesperson who can interpret architectural drawings, execute complex carpentry tasks with precision, and work effectively both independently and as part of a project team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to quality workmanship, a thorough understanding of building codes, and an unwavering focus on workplace health and safety. Duties and Responsibilities Carpentry and Construction Read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements. Take accurate measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed for projects. Cut, shape, and assemble wood, timber, and other materials to construct building frameworks, including walls, floors, and door frames. Install structures and fixtures, such as windows, doors, stairs, cabinetry, and custom joinery. Construct, erect, and install formwork for concrete pours. Carry out first fix (structural) and second fix (finishing) carpentry to a high standard. Finishing and Detailing Install trim, skirting boards, architraves, and other decorative mouldings with precision. Fit interior and exterior doors, including hanging doors and installing hardware such as handles and locks. Ensure all finished work is smooth, level, and meets the aesthetic and functional requirements of the design. Planning and Site Management Liaise with the Site Foreman to plan and prioritise carpentry tasks. Inspect and select appropriate materials to ensure quality. Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work area on site. Coordinate with other tradespeople on site to ensure efficient workflow and project progression. Tools and Equipment Safely and proficiently operate a wide range of hand and power tools, including saws, drills, sanders, and planers. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment to ensure they remain in safe and good working order. Report any tool or equipment malfunctions to the Site Foreman. Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Comply with all company WHS policies, procedures, and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS). Wear and maintain all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. Actively participate in site safety meetings, toolbox talks, and risk assessments. Identify and report any potential hazards or safety incidents immediately. Essential Skills Demonstrated ability to read and interpret architectural plans, drawings, and specifications. Proficiency in all aspects of first and second fix carpentry. Attention to Detail: Meticulous and precise in all work to ensure a high-quality, professional finish. Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve construction issues on site in a practical and efficient manner. Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building regulations. Time Management: Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage tasks effectively and meet project deadlines. Teamwork and Communication: Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, apprentices, and other trades, and communicate clearly and respectfully. Work Ethic: Punctual, reliable, and self-motivated with a commitment to producing outstanding work. Physical Fitness: Capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials, climbing ladders, and working in various weather conditions. Qualifications needed: Certificate level or equivalent relevant work experience Minimum one year of work experience on relevant position Construction Induction Card (White Card).
