Our client is a leading organisation in the energy infrastructure sector with a strong presence across multiple states. They are seeking a Commissioning Engineer to support HV substation, transmission line, and traction substation projects. Experience across large-scale renewables or solar farms will be highly regarded. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with solid commissioning experience who is looking to deepen their technical capability across major infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities Undertake HV testing and commissioning of primary equipment, including transformers, switchgear, and auxiliary equipment Perform secondary injection relay testing across transmission, distribution, and generation environments Support testing of SCADA and communication systems Assist in integrating new protection and control schemes into existing networks Review designs and validate protection schemes using approved drawings and documentation Develop commissioning plans, sequencing, and site readiness documentation Contribute to commissioning strategies that support safe, cost-effective project delivery Collaborate with project engineers, site teams, and contractors to ensure smooth commissioning activities Maintain commissioning records, reports, and compliance documentation Key Requirements Tertiary qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering Approx. 3-6 years’ experience in commissioning or testing of HV primary and secondary equipment Hands-on experience with protection testing, primary equipment commissioning, and HV substation environments Understanding of risk, safety, and compliance requirements within electrical infrastructure projects Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, and protection documentation Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and within a team Willingness to travel interstate for project work What’s on Offer Opportunity to grow into senior commissioning roles Exposure to major energy infrastructure and renewables projects Work with a supportive and experienced engineering team Melbourne CBD base with regular travel across Australia If you would like to know more, please contact Milly Kerei-Keepa at [email protected] or hit Apply Now
