Infrastructure Project Exposure PAYG or ABN Contract Role ABN or PAYG holders supported. What you’ll do as a Senior Mechanical Engineer: Lead and deliver high-level technical investigations, reviews, and advisory services related to mechanical aspects of infrastructure projects or water and wastewater assets Design, review, and optimise mechanical systems across the asset base (pumping stations, treatment works, pipelines, mechanical equipment, filtration and disinfection systems, HVAC as applicable, and associated control/instrumentation). Develop and refine systems development plans, asset management strategies, and lifecycle cost plans for mechanical assets. Plan, conduct, and coordinate audits and compliance reviews against water/wastewater standards; identify remediation actions and drive implementation. Provide expert advisory support to project teams, operations, and senior management; contribute to technical governance and design assurance processes. Engage with regulators, contractors, and stakeholders; ensure conformance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements. Contribute to budget development, schedule management, and risk mitigation for mechanical engineering activities. What you’ll bring Degree in Mechanical Engineering; Chartered status (or equivalent) highly preferred. Years of mechanical engineering experience in the infrastructure sector or closely related industrial settings. Strong background in mechanical design, performance modelling, pump/piping systems, rotating equipment, valves, treated water/ wastewater processes, and associated instrumentation and controls. Proficiency with design and engineering tools and hydraulic modelling software; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear technical reports and present findings to diverse audiences. Collaborative mindset with stakeholder management and the ability to lead cross-functional teams; ability to manage priorities and deliver to deadlines. Willingness to travel to sites and work across multiple locations as required. Demonstrated ability to work within a Safety in Design (SiD) framework and to integrate safety considerations into design and delivery. Desirable : Chartered Engineer status with a recognised engineering body (e.g., CPEng) or equivalent.
