We are seeking an experienced Design Manager with a strong engineering background to join a growing builder–developer based on Sydney’s North Shore. As the Design Manager, you will lead and manage the design process from early concept through to construction and delivery on mixed-use residential projects. You will work closely with project managers, site teams, engineers, consultants, and key stakeholders to ensure designs are fully coordinated, compliant, buildable, and aligned with cost and program objectives. Key Responsibilities: • Manage the full design lifecycle from concept, DA and CC through to construction and handover • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams including structural, civil, façade, services, and architectural disciplines • Drive design programmes, ensuring milestones are met and risks are identified and mitigated early • Ensure designs are technically robust, buildable, and aligned with construction methodology • Lead value engineering, design optimisation, and constructability reviews • Ensure compliance with NCC, Class 2 requirements, engineering standards, and statutory approvals • Provide technical engineering input and support to project delivery teams during construction • Manage client and stakeholder relationships, ensuring expectations are clearly communicated and met • Review and manage consultant agreements, scopes, and design documentation Requirements: • Proven experience as a Design Manager within the Class 2 residential and mixed-use development sector on projects exceeding $50M • Formal background in engineering (civil, structural, or building services required) • Strong understanding of construction methodology, engineering coordination, and regulatory compliance • Ability to manage multiple consultant teams and competing priorities • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering are essential If you feel you meet the above brief, please apply now with your updated resume.
