We’re seeking an experienced Principal Data (AI) Platform Engineer to join a large-scale technology transformation program for one of our clients in Sydney. This is a 'hands on' role requiring writing code, building infrastructure, and implementing the platform. This is a 12 month contract role initially with a view to extend working on a critical technology program across their Data and AI strategy to enable tooling and streamline workflows at enterprise level. The role offers hybrid working with 3 days in the office. Key Responsibilities: Lead the technical build and operationalisation of the AI platform, working with the data team to meet the requirements. Driving monthly releases and the the implementations to align with the key strategy. Establish and monitor platform performance in line with SLAs. Provide technical leadership and architecture and produce detailed technical designs. Support AI roadmap planning, execution of sprints, and contribute to agile scrums. Work collaboratively with the tech and business teams to ensure continuous improvement including AWS cloud Engineers. Requirements: 8-10 years of experience in designing, building, and operating complex Data platforms in large enterprise environments Strong experience in building AI platforms in an enterprise organisation. Expertise in cloud-native infrastructure development including AWS. Experience with SageMaker, Bedrock, S3, IAM, and other DevOps tools. Strong experience working in a greenfield environment for AI. Experience in designing, implementing AI/ML platforms. Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) Experience with CI/CD pipelines for deploying and managing platform components. Strong leadership experience and ability to mentor technical teams. Experience with prompt engineering and LLM orchestration, and GenAI is highly desirable Strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure to SLAs. Ability to work with cross-functional teams in a collaborative environment to achieve success. Certifications in AWS or DevOps/ML Ops technologies.
