Senior Controls Engineer – BMS/EPMS Melbourne (Western Suburbs) Overview Mission Critical Recruitment are seeking an experienced Senior Controls Engineer to join a high-performance team delivering 100% uptime and concierge-level service in one of Australia's premier hyperscale data centre environments. We're looking for someone with strong BMS/EPMS expertise to own the safe, reliable, and optimised operation of advanced Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) across critical facilities. Key responsibilities include: Day-to-day support of BMS/EPMS operations — alarm response, configuration changes, logic reviews, control tuning, and maintenance under strict change control Troubleshooting, trend analysis, point-to-point verification, loop tuning, and system health checks Commissioning, integration, and FAT/SAT support for new builds / retrofits Driving control optimisations, energy efficiency gains (PUE focus), automation, dashboards, and data integration Vendor management, technical evaluations, and incident/root-cause support After-hours / on-call participation as part of the roster You bring: 3 years in BMS/EPMS/controls engineering within data centres or mission-critical facilities (e.g. pharma, airports, hospitals) Hands-on experience with Tridium Niagara (or equivalent), HVAC controls, BACnet / Modbus protocols, device integration, and data quality strategies Proven live-environment change execution (risk assessments, rollback plans), alarm rationalisation, and trend-driven decisions Knowledge of data centre HVAC & electrical systems (chillers, CRAH/CRAC, UPS, metering, VFDs etc.) Solid grasp of data centre efficiency metrics (PUE) and controls networking Strong communication, customer focus, planning, and cross-functional collaboration skills Highly regarded: Niagara dashboards, BQL queries, custom logic, or database experience (SQL variants) Energy/water analytics exposure Degree/diploma in Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics/Controls Engineering (or equivalent experience) If you're passionate about mission-critical controls, thrive under pressure, and want to play a key role in world-class data centre performance — we'd love to hear from you.
