Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human need in His name without discrimination.The Retail Rag Cutter role provides support in raising much needed funds to enable The Salvation Army (TSA) to serve the needs of the local community, whilst providing an environment where customers and volunteers are treated with the dignity and respect reflected in the values and mission of TSA. Key tasks of the Role Key Activities Expected Outcomes Inspect, cut and bag rag items At the start of the shift, check your area ensuring the area is free from hazards that may compromise cutting area Inspect cutting machinery to ensure it is safe for use Liaise with Family Store Manager regularly regarding cutting machinery Visually inspect items for faults and discard items that would be unsafe for cutting Bag the cut items Cutting area is free from hazards Machine is inspected for use and only to be operated by approved individuals Store Manager is advised of machine repair requests Items are inspected closely and thoroughly prior to cutting being carried out Materials are cut safely following WHS and training procedures Items are bagged Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) Actively use PPE at all times when completing cutting activities. Monitor condition of PPE and address issues with equipment with the Line Manager Appropriate uses of Personal Protection Equipment always Participation and support Attend training as required Attend regular team meetings Support celebrating volunteer milestones (years of service) and special occasions such as birthdays Monthly meetings with Store Manager to address operational matters, including WHS, preparations for upcoming promotions, resolving issues and reviewing store policies and procedures Maintain a safe and healthy environment Operate in a safe manner at all times and insist all team members including TSA employees and visiting contractors, follow WHS policies and procedures Monitor customer safety at all times Monitor and remove waste on the shop floor area Participate in maintaining staff amenity areas are kept clear of hazards, and are clean and tidy Complete all WHS training and complete refresher training every 3 years All accidents, incidents, hazards and near misses are reported to Store Manager according to procedures Adhere to the safe standard operating procedures Participate in hazard inspections Ensure all walkways and change rooms are clear of obstruction and trip hazards (i.e. cords, rugs) Staff amenity is kept clean and tidy at all times, and hazards controlled and/or reported to Store Manager immediately The Salvation Army is an Equal Opportunity Employer who provides an inclusive work environment and embraces the diverse talent of its people.
