Are you a Building Services Hydraulic Engineer who’s starting to question the long-term consultancy grind? Still doing detailed design, still chasing deadlines, still billing hours… and wondering what’s next? This is the kind of role people move into when they want to use their experience differently Our client is a highly regarded national building services business with a specialist Advisory division operating across all east coast locations. Instead of sitting behind a screen designing systems all day, this team works directly with clients on existing buildings, helping them understand how their assets perform, what needs fixing, what needs upgrading, and how to get more from what they already have. Working at the HQ in the South East suburbs, you’ll be part of a local team while also connecting regularly with senior engineers and specialists across the country. It’s collaborative, technical and hands-on without the pressure of traditional consultancy delivery. What’s in it for you? Get off the tools and away from detailed design Work more closely with clients and have real influence Broaden your skillset into asset strategy and optimisation Learn from senior engineers across multiple disciplines Join a national employer of choice with long-term career pathways Step into something different without losing your technical edge This is not a design role. You’ll be working in an advisory capacity across existing buildings, focusing on system performance, troubleshooting, lifecycle planning and upgrade strategies. Top industry salary; we want the best and are able to exceed the market rates from general consulting roles; exact salary will depend on your level of skills and experience. You’ll be involved in: • Providing technical advice on hydraulic systems in operational buildings • Asset reviews, system assessments and optimisation strategies • Supporting clients with maintenance planning and upgrade decisions • Troubleshooting performance issues and identifying improvements • Collaborating with senior engineers across east coast offices To be considered, you will have: • Bachelor Degree in Engineering • Eligibility for NER registration/Chartership • 7 years hydraulic design experience gained in a consulting environment; commercial experience would be highly regarded • Strong technical grounding and the confidence to talk with clients • A genuine interest in moving into a more advisory-focused career This is a great next step for someone who enjoys the technical side of engineering but wants more variety, more client interaction and a more strategic role without the intensity of consultancy life.
