The Position This position provides the opportunity to lead and develop medical services in remote and rural settings working alongside a committed team of rural generalists, GPs and trainees, with some of Australia’s greatest National Parks at your doorstep. An exciting opportunity for a suitable candidate to undertake medical administration training as a RACMA Registrar, based in Katherine and serving the Big Rivers Region. While this is envisaged as a full-time role, part time would be considered. While best suited to second or third year candidates, first year candidates would be considered, based on experience and skills. Would consider 3, 6 or 12 month rotation to provide excellent exposure to rural and remote medical administration. The role will support the Director Medical Services with service planning, clinical governance and medical workforce leadership responsibilities with specific exposure to the issues of remote and Indigenous health. Current projects include primary health care integration, medical recruitment, locum engagement, Rural Generalist Training pathways, FIFO specialist engagement, aeromedical retrievals, service configuration, indigenous patient experience and service capability. Health Service Katherine Hospital is a 40-bed hospital with a busy emergency department in the Northern Territory with a unique and dynamic clinical environment, a cohesive and supportive management structure and an engaged clinician workforce comprising Specialists, Rural Generalists and Junior Medical Officers.
