About the Business Unit: Integrity Policy and Performance (IPP) is a business unit within the Integrity, Regulation and Legal Services group of the Department of Justice and Community Safety. IPP is responsible for: * Supporting the Attorney-General in her role as the Minister responsible for Victoria's integrity system and as First Law Officer. * Leading the development of policy and legislative reforms affecting Victoria's integrity system, including in relation to public sector corruption and misconduct, police oversight, legal profession regulation, information privacy, freedom of information and judicial complaints. * Providing whole-of-Victorian-government policy leadership on integrity, privacy and information sharing issues. About the Role: The Principal Legal Policy Officer will contribute across the team's responsibilities including providing informed and authoritative advice on key issues impacting legal profession regulatory framework. In this role, the Principal Legal Policy Officer will have the opportunity to gain experience, or build on existing experience, working closely with other Australian jurisdictions in the Legal Profession Uniform Law scheme as well as developing strong stakeholder relationships with relevant key stakeholders. Some of your duties will include: * Reviewing key policy settings and identifying strategic risks and opportunities for reform in the legal profession regulation framework and advise senior departmental executives and the Attorney-General on options and pathways to implementation. * Providing considered, informed and authoritative analysis and advice on complex issues affecting legal profession regulation including legislative, regulatory and budgetary and operational issues. * Independently managing complex projects including identifying key decision points, consultation strategies, timelines and risk management frameworks. About You: As our ideal candidate, you will possess: * Strong and comprehensive knowledge and experience in developing and delivering legislation. * Proven ability to adopt an innovative, strategic and solutions focused approach to the development of policy and law reform options. * Proven ability to consistently deliver high quality written and vernal advice, effectively analysing complex issues. * Proven ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
