Description The Teacher Librarian contributes to creating a stimulating and engaging learner centred library environment. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Teacher Librarian to join our team! They provide of a range of information services to staff and students in areas such as teaching and learning and the promotion of a reading culture . This role requires a deep commitment to student-centred learning, curriculum innovation, and assessment best practice, as well as a genuine enthusiasm for fostering a love of reading and learning within a library environment. This is a Permanent, Part - Time (0.4 FTE) position. The role can be worked across two full days or two shorter days, with flexibility around the days to support the successful candidate. Duties & Responsibilities Teaching and Learning Create and nurture a learning environment which meets the reading and research needs of the Middle and Senior School communities. Collaborate with teachers to support classroom wide reading programs that results in positive student learning outcomes. Support year level inquiry learning with the provision of resources and the teaching of information skills. Plan, organise and discuss the library curriculum with the library team and the Head of Library Supports the management of library resources Collaborate with the library team to promote and implement the annual Carey Celebrates Literature Festival, Book Week and other extracurricular activities Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning by participating in various professional development activities, including Carey professional development Maintain awareness of current trends and changes by remaining in contact with relevant associations and other professional networks Professional Learning and Development Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning by participating in various professional development activities, including Carey professional development Maintain awareness of current trends and changes by remaining in contact with relevant associations and other professional networks Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Teaching qualifications Teacher Librarianship qualifications desirable Demonstrated excellence in classroom teaching High level knowledge of and passion children’s and young adult literature Ability to develop dynamic programs of wide reading and literature celebration Organisational excellence Previous experience working with Library Management Systems Specific expertise and experience in leading literacy teams is desirable Our commitment to Child Safety: Our community is committed to promoting child safety, student empowerment and cultural safety, with a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse and neglect.
