What you'll do * Provide guidance to peers and colleagues in specialist financial accounting activities and analysis to facilitate the Finance Branch's efficient and effective operation, to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the Department of Health's general ledger. * Contribute to the provision of specialist advice to management and key stakeholders in relation to financial accounting matters to adequately respond to new public sector financial management initiatives as required. * Assist in the review and maintenance of appropriate policies, procedures, guidelines, and systems to facilitate and promote sound financial management and reporting across Queensland Health. About you We are searching for someone who: * Demonstrates a good understanding of, and recent experience in assisting with, the practical application of Australian Accounting Standards, Financial Reporting Requirements for Queensland Government Agencies, legislation, contemporary financial management practices and policies. * Demonstrated experience in assisting in the preparation of comprehensive and well-rounded advice to management and other stakeholders and in assisting with the review of policies and procedures. * Demonstrated involvement and success in contributing to continuous improvement programs and initiatives in the areas of operational financial accounting, with demonstrated ability to work within and thrive in successful teams. * Demonstrated experience in the effective use of contemporary financial management information technology, together with experience in assisting with the research, review, interpretation, and analysis of information to assist in formulating recommendations and reports. * Demonstrates high-level communication, interpersonal, negotiation and presentation skills, with proven experience in working well with other team members. * Demonstrates ability to successfully contribute to delivery of a range of activities and projects within tight and conflicting timeframes and deadlines. * Demonstrates flexibility in response to change and supports the workforce to embrace new expectations.
