Your new role: As the Ward Administrator for the Surgical Care Unit, you'll be the central point of contact for patients, visitors and staff, ensuring smooth operations and timely support across the ward. You'll play a key role in coordinating admissions, discharges and patient flow, while maintaining a professional and welcoming ward environment. Key responsibilities include: * Managing reception enquiries, calls and front-counter support. * Providing accurate patient information and assisting visitors while coordinating appointments, resources and patient movement to support flow. * Prioritising tasks and operating independently during busy periods. * Upholding service quality, safety standards and respectful interactions. This role operates independently after hours 14.30-20.30, requiring strong judgement, responsiveness and a calm, solutions-focused approach. About you: You bring a strong customer service mindset, sound administrative skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic healthcare environment. You demonstrate professionalism and a commitment to delivering high-quality support to patients and clinical teams. We're looking for someone with: * Strong communication skills and ability to handle sensitive enquiries with proven organisation and time-management capability in a fast-paced setting. * Accuracy and attention to detail in documentation and data entry and problem-solving skills to navigate day-to-day ward challenges. * Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. * Proficiency with hospital systems (or ability to learn quickly) and MS Word/Excel. We provide world class health care to Brisbane City's southern suburbs across emergency, medical, mental health and surgical services, including liver and kidney transplant.
