Your role at St John of God Ballarat Hospital The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of comprehensive patient care and provides supervision for Graduate Registered Nurses and Nurse Students to ensure planned nursing interventions are appropriate and implemented. The activities of the nurse will ensure that the patient receives high quality nursing care in accordance with the Mission, Philosophy and Values of the St John of God Health Care. The Position · The nurse is responsible for providing the necessary care to meet the identified needs of a patient on the ward allocated to his/her care. · The nurse is responsible for planning nursing interventions necessary to meet the patient's needs identified in the assessment phase. · The nurse is responsible for the implementation of the planned nursing care. · Routinely monitor the results of diagnostic procedures and investigations. · Assist in the assessing of complicated nursing problems guiding Graduate Nurses, and Nursing Students as needed. · Plan and document requirements necessary to facilitate a patient's discharge. · Promotes and contributes to effective communication, facilitating teamwork and cooperation within the department and within the hospital. · Participates in mental health promotion and educational programs for patients, families/carers. · Supports and supervises staff and students as required, including orientating and preceptoring staff. · Contributes to the achievement of Hospital and Clinical Services operational objectives. You will have an ability to work effectively and harmoniously within the multi-disciplinary health care team, with a commitment to ongoing education and professional development. To succeed you will have current registration as a Registered Nurse with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA), extensive Knowledge of Acts and legislation that impact on the practice of nursing, the principles of infection control and effective communication and documentation skills.
