THE ROLE The Legal Services Branch are offering entry level roles with the Statewide Child Protection Litigation Office's paralegal team who are interested in a legal career in government. We are seeking candidates that are motivated, demonstrate initiative, enthusiasm, good judgment, and have excellent written and oral communications skills. The paralegal support officer works across the business operations and child protection litigation functions. Attention to detail and teamwork underpin success in this role as well as a demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively. The role provides wide range support functions across day-to-day operations, with a focus on supporting the child protection litigation functions of the paralegal and legal teams across metropolitan and regional court venues. The paralegal support officer will assist paralegals with duties including and not limited to file and record management, coordination of Family Division court listings, electronic briefings, and legal correspondence. This may include data entry into electronic case and matter management systems, TRIM, Our Briefings, and other IT systems. To succeed in this role, the successful candidates will have strong academic results in a Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor and an interest in a career in government. ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE * * Under general direction, provide supportive assistance with office processes including data entry and management of documentation in LEX, TRIM and other IT systems, preparing matter management reports, processing and following up invoices. * Answer queries, provide timely advice and undertake general follow up action as required, including correctly redirecting incoming mail and queries. * Assist paralegals and solicitors in the management of child protection litigation, including: Drafting and preparing forms, documents, correspondence, and other material for the purpose of litigation.
