These teams play a vital role in protecting the University’s digital environment and strengthening its overall cyber resilience. Through the 2026 Cyber Security Internship Program, you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience by rotating across four specialist areas — the Cyber Security Operations Centre, Risk and Assurance, Outreach and Culture, and AUSCERT — developing a holistic understanding of cyber security in a large, complex organisation. The program runs from February to December 2026 , with a commitment of three days per week . Scheduling will be arranged with the Cyber Security Intern Program Manager based on team needs and your availability. Key responsibilities will include: Supporting the delivery of cyber security initiatives across the Cyber Security Operations Centre, Risk and Assurance, Outreach and Culture, and AUSCERT functions. Assisting with monitoring, reporting, incident response, risk assessment, and compliance-related activities under supervision. Contributing to awareness campaigns and engagement initiatives that promote a strong cyber security culture. Collaborating with AUSCERT to gain exposure to threat intelligence, incident support, and vulnerability management. Strong interest in pursuing a career in the cyber security industry. Knowledge of core cyber security concepts and principles. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Self-motivated and proactive, able to work both independently and as part of a team.
