About us: The outer western region of our service includes extremely remote communities. Cairns Hospital is the only major referral hospital in Far North Queensland and also provides care for people from Cape York and the Torres Strait. About you: In your new role you will: * As the primary contact on the ward respond to general reception enquiries by answering all incoming telephone calls, accurate transfer of messages and information to support patients and staff. * Assist and direct visitors by accessing patient information and providing an effective and courteous front counter service. * Assist with patient discharges and transfers through timely coordination of all required paperwork and updating of hospital information systems e.g. HBCIS. * Ensure the accuracy of current episode of care documents by printing encounter specific labels, affixing to documentation and destroying previous encounter labels, if applicable. * Contribute to patient flow efficiencies on the ward and throughout the hospital by liaising with a range of staff to manage movements on behalf of patients.
