About the role: Lead field and study work for major clients on the feasibility, review and optimisation of backfill operations throughout Australia and Internationally Provide technical support through optimisation of paste backfill systems, including improvements to rheology, reticulation, QA/QC and backfill strength design whilst ensuring that all backfill risks are considered, evaluated and have adequate controls; Participate in projects to optimise and expand paste backfill distribution infrastructure and surface plant operations Update standards and procedures related to paste backfill as required, ensuring standardisation across sites. Provide guidance related to the design strength of cemented paste backfill for the appropriate mining method and stope sequencing requirements. Ensure that adequate geotechnical and backfill consideration are captured in all aspects of mine design, planning and scheduling including short, mid and longer-term projects; Collaborate with key mining and mill operations personnel to troubleshoot challenges within the paste backfill system and surface plant, ensuring appropriate rheology and composition for effective and efficient stope filling. Actively seek out new technologies, systems and practices to improve industry practices About you: Hold a Bachelors Degree in Geotechnics, Mining Engineering, Civil/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent At least 5 years experience as a backfill engineer across operational, technical services and consultancy roles Ability to play a key role in shaping the backfill and consulting services department within a rapidly growing business Leadership and mentorship capabilities, actively working to develop Westfill operational and technical staff Knowledge of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations Valid manual drivers licence If your experience aligns with the above requirements we welcome your application, please click APPLY NOW Please note due to the considerable amount of applications only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
