About the role The purpose of this role is to be a key member of the of the multidisciplinary team in the Mental Health Acute Inpatient Service (MHAIS), conducting psychosocial assessments, and brief interventions to consumers and their families/carers who are impacted by acute mental health circumstances. The key accountabilities of the role include: * Deliver Social Work clinical care in accordance with the Australian Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics, professional practice standards and contemporary evidence based practice. * Apply knowledge and skills in formulation, assessment, interventions and evaluation to consumers and their carers/families to optimise mental health recovery outcomes as a member of a multidisciplinary team. * Actively contribute to relevant clinical, professional and departmental meetings, quality improvement, planning and research activities by maintaining the currency and high quality of practice knowledge and skills by active participation in professional development activities including attendance at professional discipline meetings and practice supervision. About you Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following: * Ability to provide consumer focussed discipline specific, as well as interdisciplinary clinical services including assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. * Ability to apply recovery principles in a manner consistent with Social Work values and practice standards in the acute mental health inpatient setting. * Strong communication skills, providing clients, families and stakeholders with a professional and flexible service that meets their needs. * Effective self-management skills in relation to strong time management, documentation, prioritisation and delegation to achieve deadlines. * Ability to articulate social work perspective and the proprieties for assessment and intervention in the context of a multidisciplinary team. Mandatory Requirements: * Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16 * Appointment to this position requires possession of a tertiary degree in Social Work providing eligibility for membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers.
