Project Engineer – Estimating & Tenders A leading contractor in the infrastructure space is seeking a technically minded Project Engineer to join their estimating team. This role is ideal for someone who wants to bring site-based experience into a commercial setting, contributing to competitive tenders and shaping project delivery strategies. Role Overview: As a Project Engineer focused on estimating, you’ll bridge the gap between technical execution and tender preparation. Your practical knowledge from the field will inform accurate scopes, methodologies, and pricing for civil, mechanical, and piping projects. Expect a mix of site visits, technical input, and hands-on involvement in bid preparation. Key Responsibilities: Prepare detailed estimates for civil, mechanical, and piping works, including take-offs, productivity analysis, and cost benchmarking. Attend site visits to review scopes and provide input on execution methodologies. Manage RFQs for suppliers and subcontractors, assessing compliance and competitiveness. Support tender submissions with construction methodologies, execution plans, schedules (with planner support), and client documentation. Assist with post-tender reviews and compile handover packs for awarded projects. Estimating & Tender Support: Interpret drawings, specifications, and scopes across multiple disciplines. Contribute technical insights to pricing strategies and risk assessments. Collaborate with planners and engineers to develop accurate schedules and methodologies. Ensure compliance with client requirements and technical clarifications. What You’ll Need: Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering. 3–5 years of site-based or project execution experience in civil, mechanical, or piping construction (HDPE pipeline experience highly regarded). Prior estimating/tendering experience OR strong construction knowledge with a desire to learn estimating principles. Proficiency in MS Excel and Word; exposure to estimating software (e.g., Candy, CostX, Expert Estimation) and scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera P6) is advantageous. Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Reliable transport for occasional site travel.
