We’re looking for a Senior Distribution Assets Engineer with strong technical expertise in electricity distribution to drive safety-led engineering solutions across a complex, high-performance network. This role combines field engagement with strategic asset planning, allowing you to influence design standards, manage technical risk, and implement improvements that directly enhance public and worker safety. Key Responsibilities: Field Engagement (50% site-based): Be the key bridge between field crews and asset management teams Identify, capture and escalate safety concerns raised by crews Attend field activities to gather real-world engineering insights Provide rapid field engineering support for emerging issues Safety & Technical Risk Leadership: Lead root cause investigations for field safety issues Drive implementation of safer equipment, materials, and work practices Manage technical change processes across the network Conduct network safety risk assessments Standards & Design Improvement: Input into asset standards, project designs, and safety-in-design reviews Champion constructability and field safety during planning stages Embed lessons from the field into technical documentation Governance & Compliance: Represent engineering in key HSE and Standards Committees Ensure alignment with regulatory and safety requirements Support internal/external audits with strong technical documentation Collaboration & Influence: Work across planning, engineering, and operations teams Engage external stakeholders and tech partners for trials and innovation Support Capex/Opex safety alignment in project delivery Your experience and qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering (Chartered preferred) 5–10 years in electricity distribution or energy infrastructure Deep understanding of field safety practices and regulations Strong knowledge of asset lifecycle, risk assessment, and technical change Ability to build trusted relationships with both field crews and technical teams Skilled in producing clear technical documentation, reports, and standards Benefits for you: Hybrid work – Mix of field, office, and home Safety-first culture with real engineering influence Senior role with relevant salary banding for your experience Professional development and team leadership opportunities Join a values-led business focused on innovation and sustainability About the Company: Be part of a leading Australian energy infrastructure group managing essential electricity and gas services and assets to millions of homes and businesses.
