Senior Systems Administrator - AO6 Job Description: Provide high level technical server administration and support for the department’s on-premise and cloud-based enterprise systems, including: • Install, configure, patch, upgrade, manage and monitor Windows OS Servers and any related 3rd party software. • Provide expertise for Windows OS Cloud Based Servers residing in AWS, Azure and/or Private Cloud. • Administer Veeam backup services for on-prem and cloud based virtualised servers. • Maintain process automation, scripting on Windows environments using PowerShell. • Investigate incidents (including performance and security issues). • Support and use management tools for Server Virtualisation, VMWare ESXi and Hyper V. • Maintain operational documentation for Windows OS Servers and Veeam Backup environments. • Provide 3rd level support as an escalation point in the support of the Windows OS Servers and Veeam Backup environments. • Raise and manage Service Requests for Windows OS Servers and Veeam Backup issues with Veeam and Microsoft support services. • Provide advice to other teams within Information Technology Branch and the department on technical aspects of Windows OS Servers and Veeam backup products. • Resolve complex problems involving Windows OS Server and Veeam Backup products. • Assist in the design and implementation of VMWare ESXi migration to Hyper V, for all regional Windows OS Servers. • Assist in the design and implementation of Veeam Server Backup, High Availability and Disaster Recovery technologies. • Advise and provide recommendations and solutions to the Principal Team Leader (Data Centre Services) regarding future direction, technical support and issues resolution for Windows OS, Hyper V, and Veeam related infrastructure and services. • Develop & enhance procedures and processes within the Data Centre Services team to improve the level of service provided to clients. • Contribute to the development of policies within the Data Centre Services environments. • Provide advice and guidance to software maintenance and project teams on best practise use of Virtualisation technologies, Windows Server OS, and Cloud technologies within Data Centre Services. • Provide advice, effective mentoring and skills transfer activities that contribute to a high-performance Data Centre Services team. • Perform release and change management activities on behalf of the Data Centre Services team. • Provide Windows OS, Hyper V, and Veeam management skills for operational and business projects as required. * Relevant experience in a government agency would be advantageous. * Potential of 2x 12 months contract extension.
