About the Role Our client is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer specialising in stormwater and flooding to join their Sydney-based land development team. This position is suited to a technically strong engineer who enjoys being hands-on with design while also providing guidance and mentorship within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. Working within a close-knit team of five, including two Associates, the successful candidate will take on a senior technical role with responsibility for delivering complex stormwater and flooding solutions across land development and infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and delivery of stormwater, flooding, and drainage solutions for land development and urban infrastructure projects. Undertake detailed hydrology, hydraulics, flood modelling, and water quality assessments. Prepare and review engineering reports, technical drawings, modelling outputs, and documentation. Manage design packages across all stages of the project lifecycle, from feasibility through to construction. Liaise with local councils, state authorities, and clients to ensure compliance with relevant standards and approvals. Provide mentorship and technical support to junior engineers. Collaborate with project managers, surveyors, and planners to deliver integrated project outcomes. Skills & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent (Chartered status highly regarded). Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in civil engineering with a strong focus on stormwater and flooding design within the land development sector. Proficiency in stormwater and flooding modelling software such as DRAINS, TUFLOW, MUSIC, or similar. Strong knowledge of NSW design standards and guidelines (ARR 2019, WSUD, council-specific DCPs). Track record of successfully delivering stormwater and flooding components on land development projects. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
