Key areas of accountability: Contract review : Working closely with the SSP local Legal team and global Legal teams, as required: Draft, review, negotiate and advise on various types of contracts for or related to the R&D Lab including: grant funding agreements, grant applications, research and development agreements, partnership agreements, clinical research agreements, material transfer agreements, letters of support, licenses, agreements relevant to the R&D Lab facility and its operations and MOUs (or equivalent) with government bodies and university and industry partners. Coordinate relevant inputs across Senior Director, R&D and the R&D Lab managers to prepare contractual documentation. Communicate with the R&D Lab's internal and external business partners CROs and contract managers on details of the contract terms. Coordinate review and approvals for R&D Lab agreements. Chair the bi-weekly R&D Lab Legal meeting to review and action all legal matters pertaining to the R&D Lab. Education and training: prepare and deliver training for the R&D Lab team on legal issues including, intellectual property, privacy, data protection, due diligence and commercialisation, alongside the global legal IP team, as required to educate and train the Stryker R&D Lab team on legal issues and work with compliance on relevant topics affecting the business. Advisory: Provide technically excellent, commercially focused and actionable legal advice to the R&D Lab or SSP partners of R&D Lab including, in relation to intellectual property and related issues arising from collaborative innovation, and legal, regulatory and policy developments which may impact the R&D Lab strategy and operations. Identify and advise on legal, commercial and operational risks, opportunities and mitigants for the R&D Lab and escalate to, and action input from, relevant stakeholders (SSP Legal and global Legal and business teams) as required. Review external communications or agreements relating to R&D Lab general operations. Provide subject matter expert legal advice to SSP Legal and LT in relation to IP, cyber, AI, data and Security of Critical Infrastructure laws. Represent and advocate for Stryker's interests by participating in MTAA Committees and contributing to government submissions. Continuous improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to innovate processes and systems of work including, development of templates, playbooks and other process improvements. Participate in global legal technology improvement initiatives from time to time. Stakeholder management: Foster strong relationships with colleagues in SSP, DRE and Stryker's global R&D teams, Intellectual Property team, Divisional Counsel, Legal CoEs, Compliance, Communications, Clinical Research, Government Affairs, Finance and other global functions. Supports operations at the R&D Lab in collaboration with global R&D teams pursuing projects in the Lab. Proactively coordinates with Legal and Compliance colleagues globally and outside counsel on issues relating to privacy, competition law, ethics and other matters relevant to innovative R&D. Build strategic relationships with Stryker's research partners in Australia and manage negotiations with them. Key research partners include universities, hospitals, research institutes, clinicians and state funding bodies. Governance : Prepare monthly legal and compliance reports for use by the Senior Regional Counsel in reporting to the SSP LT, the regional APAC team and the DRE R&D Lab Advisory Committee.
