Join a Critical Government Infrastructure Team We're currently recruiting a System Administrator on behalf of a major Queensland Government partner. This is a hands-on role supporting the core infrastructure powering multiple departments — with exposure to cutting-edge platforms across virtualisation, backup, and enterprise storage. You’ll be joining the Storage & Virtualisation team responsible for maintaining robust and secure environments, including VMware , cloud storage , SAN/NAS platforms , and enterprise-grade backup systems. This is an ideal role for a systems expert looking to apply their skills in a large-scale environment, working on critical infrastructure projects that support essential government services. What You’ll Be Doing Supporting the day-to-day operations of virtualisation environments (VMware vSphere, Aria Suite) and virtual desktops Administering storage systems (NAS, Fibre Channel SAN, and Cloud storage in AWS/Azure) Managing backups, system patching, and contributing to the continuous improvement of infrastructure platforms Handling incidents, service requests, and coordinating with clients and vendors to resolve issues Maintaining clear technical documentation and participating in team discussions, stand-ups, and on-call rosters Delivering occasional high-impact changes after hours (with planning) Tech Environment You'll Be Working In You’ll gain hands-on experience with a wide array of enterprise tools and platforms, including: Virtualisation & Automation : VMware vSphere, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), Aria Automation, Horizon Backup & Recovery : Dell Avamar, Data Domain, PowerProtect Storage : HPE Synergy, Brocade SAN, PureStorage, Hitachi, Dell Isilon Cloud Storage : Azure Files/Blob, AWS S3 Scripting & IaC : PowerShell, Linux scripting, Terraform, GitHub Operating Systems : Red Hat Enterprise Linux Your Skills & Experience ️ Must-Haves Solid background managing VMware environments (vSphere/ESXi) Experience working with enterprise backup platforms and solutions Familiarity with networked storage systems (NAS/SAN) and associated technologies Ability to script and automate tasks in PowerShell or Linux Strong understanding of server hardware and data centre concepts Nice-to-Have Familiarity with automated provisioning tools and workflows Experience with SAN infrastructure (e.g., Brocade switches, Hitachi or PureStorage arrays) Exposure to modern cloud storage frameworks (AWS or Azure) Working knowledge of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) You’ll Thrive If You: Are a clear and confident communicator who can work across teams Enjoy breaking down complex technical issues into actionable solutions Can juggle multiple tasks without losing sight of priorities Are proactive about learning and sharing knowledge Work independently and take ownership of your outcomes Other Details: Location: Brisbane CBD (50% in-office minimum, with flexible WFH options) Clearance: Police Check required Apply through this link, for any queries, please email [email protected] quote REF245824 Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Hudson Hudson is committed to helping you find a workplace where you feel respected, supported, and free to thrive.
