The Client: Hawk Tech Pty Ltd is an Australian provider of advanced telecommunications solutions, specialising in offering innovative and reliable telecommunications services. They now seeking a skilled and qualified Telecommunication Field Engineer to join their team in Craigieburn in VIC on a full-time basis. The Role: This is for a full-time position with an annual salary between $80,000 to $82,000 depending on experience plus superannuation. The role will be based in Craigieburn in VIC. The Responsibilities: Plan, design and monitor complex telecommunications networks. Install and configure telecom hardware (e.g., routers, switches, antennas, base stations). Set up and deploy wired and wireless communication systems. Conduct RF testing, signal strength analysis, and spectrum analysis. Perform system and network performance tests using OTDRs, signal meters, etc. Carry out preventive maintenance and routine inspections on telecom equipment. Troubleshoot and repair hardware or connectivity issues in the field. Conduct field/site surveys to assess signal availability and structural conditions. Ensure proper grounding, cabling, and power supply at installation sites. Document installations, configurations, test results, and service reports. Ensure compliance with telecom standards, regulations, and safety guidelines. Work with project teams, clients, and NOC (Network Operations Center) for coordination. Provide technical training or guidance to on-site personnel or junior technicians. Support commissioning and handover of newly installed systems. The Requirements: At least a Diploma qualification in Telecommunications or a related field At least 1-year relevant experience in the industry in a professional setting At least 1 year experience installing, configuring, and maintaining telecommunications systems, including fibre optic, copper, and wireless networks At least 1 year experience in performing site surveys, technical assessments, and preparing installation documentation At least 1 year experience with fibre splicing, termination, and testing using OTDR and power meters At least 1 year experience working with network hardware including routers, switches, modems, and RF equipment At least 1 year experience interpreting technical drawings, site plans, and network schematics At least 1 year experience documenting field work, preparing service reports, and maintaining compliance with telecommunications regulations (e.g. ACMA) Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to perform on-site analysis and resolution of technical problems Ability to work independently and as part of a team Familiarity with maintaining detailed logs and documentation of inventories, parts, equipment, and instruments, as well as communication policies and procedures Ability to liaise effectively with vendors, suppliers, service providers, and external resources to monitor contractual obligations and performance delivery
