About the role We are currently recruiting two Senior Engineering Officers within the Substation Design team. The preferred locations are Orange and Wagga although you can be based anywhere within the Essential Energy’s operational footprint . Do you currently have design experience with the high voltage electrical substation, or you would like to work on an electricity network that is geographically diverse? This is a network that is over 737,000 square km in size, encompassing areas of subtropical rainforests of the NSW South Coast, the snow-covered peaks of the Kosciuszko National Park and the barren outback of Broken Hill. Our highly engaged substation design team utilises 3D reality models and intelligent design systems to deliver quality and revolutionary detailed designs. Within the role you will be working with a team that is made up of supportive and collaborative professionals, that strive to achieve excellent results, take pride in their attention to detail and ensure that there is positive satisfaction from all internal and external stakeholders in the delivery of their high-quality designs. As a Senior Engineering Officer within the Substation Design Team, you will be responsible for the delivery of all aspects of substation design. This includes civil, building, primary electrical and secondary electrical design components. The role will also include responsibility for the evaluation and review of design drawings, preparation of equipment specifications, management of contract designers and mentoring of team members. About your experience We are looking for someone with: Extensive experience in a similar Substation Design engineering role in the Energy/Electrical and/or Utilities Industry Complete knowledge and application of current design philosophies, procedures, statutory requirements including Safe Design. Demonstrated experience to utilise analytical and technical knowledge to manage activities during planned and unplanned events providing appropriate solutions to technical/engineering issues in the Energy Network Technical environment About your skills We are looking for someone with: Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to manage diverse and complex issues Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver technical services in a professional and timely manner Strong attention to detail and commitment to produce quality work. Strong time management skills with excellent planning and organisational skills, to be able to handle a varying complex workload Required Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need Associate Degree of Electrical Engineering (Power/Electrical) or Diploma/Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications.
