A Secondary Mathematics Teacher at Reddam House Australia plays a pivotal role in guiding students from Year 7 to Year 12 through their critical educational journey. This role involves delivering high-quality instruction in one or more subjects aligned with the NESA curriculum. The teacher is tasked with inspiring academic excellence, fostering intellectual curiosity, and supporting the personal development of students. By creating engaging lesson plans, assessing student progress, and contributing to the broader school community, the teacher ensures that each student is empowered to achieve their full potential, both academically and personally. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Prepare daily and long-term lesson plans that adhere to curriculum standards and cater to the diverse learning needs of students. • Arrange and manage classroom resources effectively to support an engaging and conducive learning environment. • Assess students’ abilities, strengths, and areas for improvement, providing individualised support to help them overcome challenges and excel academically. • Maintain productive working habits and discipline within the classroom to foster a respectful and focused learning atmosphere. • Set up classrooms as needed for different subjects and ensure the space is tidy and organised after lessons. • Supervise students throughout the school day, both during class and during breaks, ensuring their safety and well-being. • Evaluate and assess students’ educational progress and abilities, providing timely feedback and detailed reports to students, parents, and school leadership. • Monitor and support students’ emotional and social well-being, addressing any concerns or issues that may arise. • Prepare and administer exams, assignments, and other assessments, marking student work to measure learning outcomes. • Participate in staff meetings, House meetings, assemblies, and professional development days, contributing to the broader school community. • Engage with parents and guardians during parent evenings and open days to discuss student progress and address any concerns. • Organise, attend and supervise various school activities, including excursions, concerts, art exhibitions, fundraising events, camps, sporting events, and presentations. • Undertake professional development to maintain NESA accreditation and stay current with best practices in education. • May be required to assume the role of Year Coordinator and provide pastoral care for the relevant year group students from time to time, based on the needs of the school.THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE: SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: • Proven experience teaching at the secondary level with a solid grasp of NESA curriculum requirements. • Skilled in one or more Key Learning Areas, with the ability to engage students across diverse learning needs. • Strong classroom management focused on fostering a positive, disciplined environment. • Proficient in student assessment and progress reporting. • Experienced in planning and supervising school events and activities. • Competent in using educational technologies and creative teaching strategies to enrich learning.
