The PDHPE and HMS Teacher at Reddam House plays a critical role in supporting the physical, academic, and personal development of students across Years 7 to 12. The role requires the delivery of engaging, NESA-aligned lessons in both Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) and Stage 6 Human Movement Science. This educator is expected to foster a positive learning environment that promotes health literacy, physical skill development, and critical thinking. By guiding students through practical and theoretical learning experiences, the teacher contributes to building healthy, active, and informed young people. The role also includes participation in co-curricular activities, sporting programs, and broader school initiatives. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Deliver quality teaching in Stage 4 and 5 PDHPE and Stage 6 Human Movement Science, following NESA curriculum requirements. • Plan and implement engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to diverse learning needs. • Integrate theory and practical components of PDHPE, promoting lifelong physical activity and health awareness. • Use a range of formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform practice. • Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all students during practical lessons. • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students, parents, and school leaders. • Promote and model a commitment to student wellbeing, resilience, and respectful relationships. • Contribute to the organisation and supervision of PDHPE-related school events, including carnivals, excursions, camps, and sports competitions. • Participate actively in staff meetings, professional learning days, and school community events. • Collaborate with faculty members to ensure a consistent and high-quality learning experience across year levels. • Support the co-curricular and House systems at Reddam House through coaching weekend sport, mentoring, and attending school activities. • Uphold all school policies, particularly those related to student safeguarding, wellbeing, and behaviour management. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE: SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: • Proven experience teaching PDHPE across Stages 4 and 5 and/or Human Movement Science in Stage 6. • In-depth knowledge of the PDHPE curriculum and current NESA requirements. • Strong practical teaching skills in physical activity and sport education. • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students and support their holistic development. • Skilled in using assessment data to inform teaching and support student growth. • Effective classroom and behaviour management skills in both practical and theory settings. • Proficient in using educational technologies and creative teaching methods to enhance the learning experience. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: • Participation in playground supervision, pick-up/drop-off duties, and general student supervision. • Willingness to attend school events and activities outside regular hours, including performances, sporting events, and parent-teacher evenings. • Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining NESA accreditation.
