The Opportunity As a Floodplain Engineer, you'll report to the Coordinator Roads and Drainage Assets and will be assessing development applications, issuing flood certificates, and responding to community and developer enquiries on flooding and stormwater. You'll also manage flood studies and risk management plans, support stormwater infrastructure design (including SQUIDs), prepare grant applications and lead and develop Council's floodplain management program. The role also includes managing Floodplain Risk Management Advisory Committee meetings, including the preparation of agendas, minutes, and technical reports. Strong technical knowledge and report writing skill, having the ability to provide sound engineering advice across Council teams and the ability to facilitate committee meetings with confidence and professionalism will be essential. What you'll need to succeed (Essential Criteria) Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering with minimum 3 years demonstrated experience within similar or like role. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in stormwater and floodplain management, maintenance, construction, modelling and design of infrastructure such as stormwater pipelines, culverts, open channels, gross pollutant traps, detention basins, wetlands & Water Sensitive Urban Drainage (WSUD) design solutions. Competence in the use of floodplain analysis software as TUFLOW, RAFTS. WBNM and QGIS or other GIS related software and other land information tools. Demonstrated experience in managing projects, managing contracts and preparing briefs in relation to tenders/quotations. High level computer literacy skills with spreadsheets, databases, word processing and web base applications. Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, including effective report writing, high-level customer service, and the ability to facilitate committee meetings with confidence and professionalism. Proven knowledge in preparing grant applications, especially with DPE. Hold current C Class driver's licence . What's in it for you?
