Job Description A Geotechnical Engineer is a key member of the Technical Services Team and assists the Dawson Mine site in all strata control matters. As the Geotechnical Engineer you will use your technical expertise to assist the Technical Services Team develop sound mine designs, which enable the depletion of the deposit in a safe and productive manner. A key aspect of the Geotechnical Engineer’s work is the gathering of geotechnical data in the field and from exploration drilling, you will also assist the Mine Production Teams in managing geotechnical hazards on site, including the investigation of the hazards and the development of risk mitigation strategies in line with the site’s Principal Hazard Management Plan. As a visible leader of the work place the Geotechnical Engineer promotes the Anglo American’s safety culture when interacting with the workforce and increases the awareness of geotechnical hazards through transparent decision making and positive communication. You must have a strong commitment to health, safety & environmental standards as well as strong planning, technical knowledge and interpersonal skills. Experience with Rocscience Software (Slide, Dips) is highly desirable. Exposure to DESWIK, I-SITE Studio & UAV Drones will also be highly regarded. You will utilise your experience of the coal mining process as well as your knowledge in geotechnical modelling software to deliver achievable and efficient mine designs/plans.
