About the role This position works in Forensic and Secure services (FSS) under the direct or indirect supervision of a Social Worker contributing to patient care and performing delegated tasks. The role works collaboratively with consumers and multidisciplinary teams across the service. The purpose of this role is to perform allocated clinical activities for which you have been trained and assessed as competent under the direction and supervision of a Social Worker. You will develop and build clinical competency through participation in workplace training, education, and feedback processes while engaged in formal Social Work tertiary studies. The key responsibilities of the role include: * Undertake clinical activities under the direction and supervision of a Social Worker, that are consistent with the employee's knowledge, skills, and competencies, and in accordance with the AASW (Association of Australian Social Workers) professional and ethical standards. * Clarifying directions that are unclear and refusing the allocation of clinical activities for which the HP1 employee does not yet have competence. * Support service provision by assisting with non-clinical activities as directed. About you Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following: * Ability to apply knowledge in Social Work, the health care system, computer literacy, medical terminology, general medical conditions, and basic anatomy. * Understanding of own scope of practice. * Ability to acquire the skills to provide a defined range of assessments and treatments under supervision and direction of a Social Worker and undertake operational and administrative duties relevant to the position. * Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with consumers and the multidisciplinary team. * Ability to use initiative and assume responsibility for the assigned workload, including the use of effective and efficient planning and organisational skills. Mandatory Requirements: * Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16 * Appointment to this position requires proof of enrolment in a tertiary degree qualification in Social Work at a recognised tertiary institution.
