ATCO owns and operates Western Australia's largest gas distribution network, with more than 850,000 connection points and 14,500km of pipelines. ATCO is seeking a detail-oriented Engineering Technical Writer to join our Technical Services team. Based in Jandakot, this role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and regulatory compliance of technical and operational documentation, which supports the safe and effective operation of ATCO’s gas infrastructure network. Key responsibilities: Create and maintain a variety of technical documents, including Safe Work Instructions, Design Guidelines, Procedures, Process Maps, Forms and support development of associated training material. Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure content is technically accurate, relevant and aligned with operational needs, with a strong focus on revising training documentation Provide guidance and support to internal teams on documentation standards and best practices. Coordinate with the Document Controller to ensure approved documents are published and distributed across the business. Facilitate peer reviews to ensure consistency, clarity and compliance across business functions. Plan and manage documentation projects, ensuring successful delivery and alignment with business priorities . About you: Required skills: Proven experience in technical writing within an engineering environment (gas industry experience and familiarity with Australian Standards highly regarded). Strong ability to map business processes and produce high-quality technical publications. Proficient in MS Office and document management systems; MS Visio experience (desirable). Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills. Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. A collaborative team player with effective stakeholder management skills, and a proactive, customer-focused mindset. Desirable skills: Strong understanding of human factor principles with the ability to simplify complex procedures and clearly highlight safety-critical information. Familiarity with adult learning principles and experience developing engaging content for operational personnel Ability to translate technical procedures into clear visual formats such as infographics and annotated diagrams.
