The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Senior SCADA Engineer to lead the development and implementation of SCADA systems across our renewable energy and transmission projects. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our SCADA solutions meet operational, compliance, and client requirements, supporting project delivery teams and ongoing operations. Key Responsibilities Lead the design, configuration, testing, and commissioning of SCADA and control systems for utility-scale solar, BESS, wind, and transmission projects. Develop functional specifications, architecture diagrams, and detailed design documentation for SCADA and communications systems. Manage integration of SCADA systems with associated plant systems including protection relays, inverters, BESS controllers, metering equipment, and weather stations. Oversee development and configuration of HMI screens, alarm management, historian, and reporting tools. Ensure SCADA systems meet regulatory and network operator (e.g., AEMO, DNSP, TNSP) requirements for data provision, remote access, and control. Coordinate with internal engineering, construction, and commissioning teams as well as external contractors, vendors, and clients to ensure project requirements are met. Provide technical oversight of subcontractors and vendors delivering SCADA hardware and software packages. Lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and commissioning activities for SCADA systems. Develop and deliver O&M documentation, training, and ongoing technical support for SCADA systems. Contribute to the development of SCADA standards and templates to ensure consistency across projects. Identify, evaluate, and implement system upgrades and cybersecurity controls for operational SCADA platforms. Support tender preparation, cost estimation, and bid evaluation for SCADA scopes on new projects. Skills & Experience Essential: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Control Systems, or related Engineering discipline. Minimum 5–7 years’ experience delivering SCADA systems for large infrastructure or renewable energy projects. Strong technical knowledge of SCADA platforms (e.g., Citect, Wonderware, GE, Schneider, Siemens, or similar). Experience with industrial communications protocols (DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850, OPC, etc.). Solid understanding of control systems, instrumentation, and electrical infrastructure for power generation and transmission. Demonstrated experience leading SCADA design, FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities. Strong documentation, report writing, and technical presentation skills. Knowledge of Australian regulatory and grid connection requirements (e.g., AEMO, NER compliance). Desirable: Experience with cybersecurity standards applicable to operational technology (e.g., ISO 27001, IEC 62443). Familiarity with renewable energy systems (solar, wind, BESS). Exposure to network operator SCADA/EMS systems. Experience with remote site SCADA support and troubleshooting. Current construction induction (White Card) and relevant safety training.
