Business Development Engineer — Middle Park, Port Phillip

ABOUT THE ROLE The Business Development Engineer role is to bridge the gap between technical expertise and business development initiatives, driving the identification, evaluation, and execution of renewable energy projects. This position plays a pivotal role in leveraging engineering knowledge to assess the technical feasibility and economic viability of renewable energy projects, while also contributing to market analysis, client engagement, and strategic partnership development. By combining technical acumen with business acumen, the Business Development Engineer contributes to the growth and success of the company by identifying new business opportunities, optimising project performance, and fostering collaboration with key stakeholders. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING ● Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, market dynamics, and potential business opportunities in the renewable energy sector. ● Assess market demand, competitive landscape, and regulatory frameworks to identify strategic areas for project development and investment. ● Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate the technical feasibility and economic viability of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, hydro, and other emerging technologies. ● Perform site assessments, resource modeling, and feasibility studies to determine project feasibility and optimise project design and performance. ● Develop compelling project proposals, technical presentations, and business case analyses to communicate project value propositions to prospective clients, partners, and stakeholders. ● Engage with clients, government agencies, utilities, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, address technical inquiries, and negotiate project agreements. ● Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including equipment suppliers, technology providers, engineering firms, and regulatory authorities, to support project development efforts. ● Identify and pursue strategic partnerships and collaboration opportunities to enhance project capabilities, access new markets, and drive business growth. ● Develop and implement market entry and expansion strategies to penetrate new markets, geographies, and customer segments within the renewable energy industry. ● Evaluate potential investment opportunities, joint ventures, and acquisitions to support strategic growth initiatives and diversify the company's renewable energy portfolio. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERTISE YOU WILL NEED ● Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related field); Master's degree or MBA preferred. ● 3 years of experience in business development, project development, or engineering roles within the renewable energy industry. ● Strong technical background in renewable energy technologies, project development processes, and regulatory requirements. ● Experience in transmission and distribution is highly desirable WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE ● Demonstrated ability to analyse complex technical data, conduct feasibility studies, and develop business cases for renewable energy projects. ● Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels. ● Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders. ● Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for renewable energy and sustainability.
