The key duties of the position include The Role As an APS 6 Systems Integration Engineer you will be part of the Surveillance and Control System Program Office (S&CSPO) and work in a dynamic team that supports Air Traffic Management (ATM) Systems. While the role supports ATM systems across Australia, you will be based at RAAF Base Williamtown, located near Newcastle in the Hunter Valley. Your knowledge of engineering systems, legislation and compliance is paramount to this role as you perform and achieve complex systems engineering work within an integrated workforce. Your communications skills will be excellent as you engage with both internal and external stakeholders in support of Defence's mission to deliver safe and effective ATM capability as an Air Navigation Service Provider within Australia's national airspace management strategy. The work of the CAF12 ATM Systems Integration Engineer will be to engage with stakeholders, investigate systems engineering concepts, deliver and manage systems engineering specifications and resources in support of the Defence materiel capability lifecycle. Our Ideal Candidate You will be a self-starter who has had experience supporting executive teams, engineering change management activities and the review, amendment and approval of technical documentation. You will be able to: Perform critical and complex engineering activities and provide advice in the field of systems engineering under broad direction. Be accountable for exercising assigned engineering authorities and any Technical Regulatory Authority delegations. Apply engineering knowledge and experience to identify risks and uncertainties and take these into account, in planning, decision making and priority setting. Demonstrate systems engineering knowledge and provide advice and recommendations on the development of advancements to established engineering principles, techniques, methods and regulations. Build and sustain positive relationships with team members, actively participate in team-work and motivate and mentor developing engineers. Tailor communication style and language to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Manage workflows, resources, prepare work area and team plans detailing measurable milestones and expected outcomes.
