About the Role: I'm looking for a Senior Linux Engineer to lead the remediation of end-of-life Linux-based computers. These systems are integral to laboratory measurement, industrial control, and data acquisition processes that drive innovation. As a Senior Linux Engineer, you'll create custom Linux builds needed to modernise, upgrade, and secure these vital systems, ensuring their reliability and compliance with cutting-edge security standards. Key Responsibilities: Assess legacy Linux systems to determine whether to remediate or decommission. Build and implement replacement Linux OS systems for scientific instrumentation. Collaborate with scientists to capture requirements and design practical, secure solutions. Document all activities, including remediation efforts and build notes. Maintain accurate asset management system records. Mentor team members on Linux OS setup and maintenance. Ensure compliance with security policies aligned with the ASD Essential Eight Maturity Model. Adhere to OHS guidelines in laboratories and other technical areas. What You Bring: Essential Skills & Experience: 10 years of Linux engineering experience. 5 years in building and compiling custom Linux OS solutions. Demonstrated ability to solve complex IT issues. Experience implementing robust security practices. Proven track record of hardware upgrades and rollouts. Strong communication and team collaboration skills. Australian Citizenship with eligibility for NV1 Clearance. Desirable Skills & Experience: Experience with scientific or medical instrumentation. Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell, Python, or programming in Java/C++. Cisco CCNA or equivalent certification in Cybersecurity or Enterprise. ITIL 4 Foundation certification. Expertise in supporting complex computer networks. Experience mentoring IT support teams. Why Join?
